It's Good To Be Busy, But Damn!

The fecal matter has definitely impacted the rotary oscillator! I haven't had time to post since my last one way back when. I thought things were hectic at work after I got back from vacation, but then we upgraded our operating system. Ho-Lee Sh#t!! Response time went through the roof, and everything slowed to a crawl. Talk about long days and short nights! This weekend, I get to go to work installing a new mainframe to try to bring everything back to normal.

And, to top it all off, I got a diabetic ulcer on my leg.(CAUTION!! Extremely Disturbing Images behind those links!!) This stupid thing started as a simple scrape way back in April, when I stumbled in Mexico. It all healed, except for a little black scab as big as the end of my thumb. Along about July, I got the bright idea to put some Neosporin on it, and cover it with a bandaid. BAD IDEA! The black spot turned white and the skin surrounding it started dying and turning black until it reached the size it is now. The doctor had to surgically remove the dead skin and now I am in Whirlpool Therapy every morning before I go in to work. That makes me get there late, so I leave even later to make up for it.

According to the doc, it's healing, but it seems to be taking it's own sweet time. Take it from me, this is NOT fun. I will have a scar when it finally does heal that will be ugly enough to make women and small children cry, and make grown men sick to their stomach, but I guess that's the only upside.(ha ha) If you're diabetic, please, please, for the love of God(or Odin, or Goddess, or whoever), take care of your blood sugar levels, take your medicine, and exercise! If you're pre-diabetic, exercise, exercise, exercise. Take those pounds off, and keep them off. Look to me as an example. A BAD example!

Oh, well, next post will be pictures from our cruise, I promise.

I'm Back! Did Ya Miss Me?

No? Not even a little bit? Awwww.

Oh, well. The trip was awesome. We got home late Sunday afternoon after a seemingly endless drive from Galveston. If you think the drive's not that bad, try it with a 17-year-old and a 9-year-old that bicker and fight like a couple of 5-year-olds. As El Capitan said, duct tape is your friend.

Jamaica was beautiful! Flowers and trees and plants and birds, oh, my! We went to a banana plantation up in the hills where we learned some very interesting facts about bananas, pineapples, and coconuts, like, put in a blender with rum and condensed milk, they make a hell of a Pina Colada.

In Cayman Islands, dear wife, the kids, and the mother-in-law went swimming with the stingrays and had a wonderful time. There had to be about 15 to 20 boats anchored at this sandbar called Stingray City, and about 150 to 200 people standing, swimming, and snorkeling around. Even with that many people around, the rays kept swimming in. The boat pilots and their crew would grab hold of one and bring it near the surface for people to pet and have their picture taken. Dear wife was so happy, she was grinning ear to ear. Stingrays are her favorite animal, after frogs, I have been informed time after time.

After the rays, we went to a sea turtle farm, then on to Hell. Hell, Cayman Islands, is so named for the rock formations immediately behind the little post office there. They look like something you would imagine hell would look like, spiked and pitted.

After Cayman Islands, we sailed to Cozumel. Having been there numerous times, we skipped Cozumel and tendered over to the mainland to swim with dolphins, that is, dear wife, the kids, and the mother-in-law swam and I took pictures. The dolphin swim was great fun for everybody, except, maybe the dolphins. No evidence of maltreatment, but nothing to do but perform all day. Oh well, I guess they could be tuna fish salad.

All in all, a great trip. Dear wife won $150 dollars in the casino and bought a ring with her winnings. I won $4 and still didn't have enough to buy a drink.

And yes, I've been home since last Sunday, I've just been too busy to find a moment to update y'all. Sorry, but I gotta put groceries on the table before bullshit on the intarwebs.
